- Do not remember the past. Excessive focus on "how great the good old days" will only cause the person to be disappointed today.
- More realistic expectations for the holidays - on everything from family relationships to the giving of gifts.
- Keep alcohol consumption at least during the holidays. Drink only exacerbates the depression that many with this condition experience during the winter months.
- Delegate responsibilities. For many people, holiday stress is due to take over the responsibility themselves. Working with other family members to spread the responsibilities associated with vacation planning.
